ARTIST STATEMENT
I am Ty Davis, a multidisciplinary artist from South Carolina. My work is rooted in personal experience—where I’ve been, what I’ve seen, and what I carry. I create large-scale abstract paintings that speak through color, texture, and movement. The process is spiritual, intuitive, and physical. I work on the floor, dragging blues and muted tones across the canvas, layering emotion the same way life layers itself on us.
My focus right now is exploring the color blue—not just as a hue, but as a weight, a history, and a truth. I’m interested in how color can hold memory, how it can represent joy, sorrow, resilience—all at once. My work isn’t about recreating what we see; it’s about revealing what we feel and sometimes what we avoid.
At the heart of it all, I’m just trying to tell stories. Black stories. Hood stories. Human stories
