Investing in Black Contemporary Art, Culture, and Community

FEATURING THE CURRENT INITIATIVE

Washed in Blue

Our Mission

Tiguere Contemporary Arts is a multidisciplinary arts organization dedicated to advancing contemporary artists through exhibitions, education, publications, and community engagement. We create opportunities for artists whose work explores identity, history, spirituality, and cultural memory while making contemporary art accessible to diverse audiences.

We believe art is more than something to view. It is a catalyst for dialogue, healing, and transformation.

Why This Work Matters

Many talented artists, particularly Black artists and other historically underrepresented voices, continue to face barriers to exhibition opportunities, professional development, and sustainable careers. Communities also deserve meaningful cultural experiences that invite reflection, conversation, and connection.

Tiguere Contemporary Arts bridges this gap by producing thoughtful exhibitions, educational programming, artist talks, workshops, publications, and collaborative projects that strengthen both artists and audiences.

Our Vision

We envision a thriving cultural ecosystem where artists are valued as leaders, creativity is recognized as a public resource, and contemporary art serves as a powerful force for education, civic engagement, and social connection.

Current Initiative: Washed in Blue

Among our active projects, Washed in Blue is an evolving body of work exploring memory, identity, spirituality, labor, and transformation through indigo, cyanotype, abstraction, and photographic processes. Drawing from historical references while embracing experimental techniques, the project invites viewers to consider the enduring relationship between Black history, material culture, and contemporary artistic practice.

The initiative extends beyond an exhibition to include artist talks, educational workshops, printed publications, and community conversations that deepen public engagement with the work.
