Exhibition Overview

GODBODY: the Femme is a group exhibition that celebrates the Black femme body as sacred, political, ancestral, and expansive. This exhibition explores how Black femme identity intersects with gender, race, spirituality, labor, intimacy, and resistance. GODBODY

The GODBODY exhibition is grounded in the idea that the divine exists within the Black male form as a natural expression of creation, protection, and power. For generations, the image of Black masculinity has been distorted, policed, and confined within narrow definitions shaped by fear, misunderstanding, and social control. GODBODY seeks to reclaim and reframe that narrative.

When society allows Black men to stand in their fullness we witness the emergence of new forms of beauty, healing, and cultural truth. To revel in one’s masculinity is not an act of dominance, but of wholeness. It is the freedom to express strength and softness, discipline and grace, body and spirit, without contradiction.

In this exhibition, that belief becomes visual language. The work explores the body not as an object but as a vessel of divine energy. It challenges the stereotypes that have long defined Black male identity and instead proposes a vision of manhood rooted in balance, love, and presence. The GODBODY ideal suggests that when Black men recognize the divinity within themselves and are affirmed by the world around them, they create art, culture, and community that reflect that same divinity outward.

Ty Davis, Anointed in Abstraction

Solo Exhibition

Ty Davis / Anointed in Abstraction brings together a series of paintings that highlight Davis’s evolving approach to abstraction. Working directly on canvas with layered applications of dyes, inks, and paint, Davis creates compositions where gesture and surface meet with intention and restraint. His use of Prussian blue, Payne’s grey, and Titan Buff builds fields of color that suggest depth, weight, and shifting states of emotion.

Through repeated layering, Davis allows blue to approach black without ever arriving there, a metaphor for the generational burdens and resilience embedded within the Black experience. The work resists spectacle, instead emphasizing balance, clarity, and control of the medium.

By grounding abstraction in personal history and cultural reflection, Davis offers paintings that invite viewers to slow down, to encounter color and form not as decoration but as sites of memory, meditation, and meaning.
